About Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies
India is marching towards globalisation while achieving growth through indigenous development. Digital India, foreign investment, Make in India, Start up and such many more initiatives are a part of this strategy. These initiatives are creating more opportunities for the legal professionals as well. Within this context, it may be noted that India has the second largest legal profession with more than 600,000 lawyers. However, considering the population of India, the ratio available for Indian population is only six lawyers per ten thousand people. In this scenario, there is a need to staff the legal services along with making it efficient and equipping it to deal with changing scenario and increasing expectations. In this background, Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies (VSLLS), VIPS, by delving upon its experience and expertise in law, is doing progressive efforts to equip its law students face the world.

Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies (VSLLS) of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS) is committed to realizing the words of Swami Vivekananda: “Man Making, Character Building and Nation Building”. Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies is affiliated to Guru Gobind Indraprastha University, recognised by Bar Council of India and UGC under section 2(f), with NAAC ‘A++’ accreditation, is well known for its robust efforts in legal education. Dr S.C. Vats, Chairman, VIPS, a great philanthropist and educationist believes in perfection. Thus, the motto of VIPS is “in pursuit of perfection”. With his broad vision and guidance, since the inception of VIPS, in the year 2000, it has produced ninteen gold medallists, twenty plus judicial officers along with lawyers placed with highly reputed industries, law firms and senior advocates as also government and non government establishments. Currently, the Law School of VIPS is running the programmes B.A.LL.B., B.B.A.LL.B., and LL.M. in its own hi- tech, Wi-Fi enabled campus in Delhi. Students with higher rank in CET conducted by GGSIP University are preferring admission in VIPS.
Curriculum, Pedagogy and Infrastructure
Contemporary legal education is essentially a multi-disciplined and multi-purpose education system which aims at preparing multi tasking professionals who are lawyers and judges as also policy makers, public officials, legislators, advisors to the industries etc. Considering this, VIPS organise professional skill development activities from the first year itself. International law moots, mock trials, arbitration, mediation, client counselling, negotiations, mock parliament as also plaint writing, judgement writing, business contract writing these activities equip students for practical application of law in different areas. Academic and non academic infrastructure is also supporting multi dimensional teaching pedagogy.
Research in law is of utmost importance to the faculty and students. VIPS has an atmosphere conducive for research and consultancy. One of the biggest strength of VIPS is its faculty members who have distinguished academic achievements to their credit. They have expertise in traditional and contemporary including transnational areas of law. They are involved in both sponsored and non-sponsored research projects. Students are encouraged to undertake empirical and non-empirical research under the guidance of faculty. Students and faculty members are involved in publishing and presenting research papers in conferences/seminars.
Considering the importance of creation of synergy between law education sector and industry, the VIPS organises various guest- lecture series, academic visits, workshops and seminars, internship with senior advocates, law firms and industry as well. Eminent and accomplished personalities from the Bench and Bar have been invited to guide the students. Various academicians have also been visited to motivate our students.
Collaboration with University of New Hampshire- Franklin Pierce Center, Concord, United States and National Law India University Bangalore are also being made for the exposure to students at international and national level. Under these collaborations students and faculty will be able to pursue research, higher degree programmes, as also online programmes from the above mentioned universities.
Alumni of the Law School are doing well in their respective field. Since our inception total 17 batches have been passed out. In this twenty plus alumni have cleared judicial services, many have formed their own law firm, many alumni are associated with the well known national and international law firms like Amarchand Mangaldas, Karanjawala, Luthra & Luthra and many more. Alumni are doing well in academics as well as also in civil services. With the success of alumni, VLS, VIPS is also flourishing and thus motivating current students to move on and on.
Thus, VLS is progressing and marching towards perfection consistently.
