On the 23rd and 24th August 2017, VIPS, VLS organized a ‘Mediation Boot Camp’ open for all. It was organized with the aim to provide the students with an insight as to how the processing, functioning, and the development of the core negotiation and mediation skills. The program enabled the participants to understand the relevance of mediation in dispute resolution and the unique nature of the approach through a variety of theory, simulation, feedback, and an open forum discussion. The workshop gave the students the basic concrete of mediation and negotiation and further enhancement of developing ideas for them to work on achieving accurate skills to become a successful mediator.

The program began with the welcome ceremony by lighting the lamp. Professor (Dr.) Rashmi Salepkar, Dean gave the introduction of VLS and spoke about its objective, endeavors, and achievement. Three talented practitioners were invited to make the students know about the working of the system of mediation. Mr. Arjun Natrajan, a Strategic negotiator, mediator, and conciliator, Mr. Jonathan Rodrigue, a practitioner, and mediation lawyer and Ms. Tamina Tandon, Mediator are the trainers of the event. The three pulled together a variety of themes like – introduction to communication skills, the role of mediator, styles of approaching conflict, understanding the role of a lawyer in mediation, and many other themes relevant to a present-day dispute resolution practitioner.

The camp ended on a high note where the students learned, explored and developed a sense of understanding the crux of mediation. The camp was a huge success and the students had a fun experience and were satisfied.
