National Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights
The Centre for Intellectual Property Rights, VSLLS, VIPS organized a national level seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights” on 26 April 2022. The event was organized on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day. The first session was conducted by Ms. Megha Mishra, Partner, Karanjawala and Company, on Relevance of IPR in the contemporary world in which IPR being one of the individuals as well as human rights were first discussed. Ms. Mishra also discussed how Intellectual property protection is critical to fostering innovation, and without protection of ideas, businesses and individuals would not reap the full benefits of their inventions and would focus less on research and development. The second session was taken up by Mr. Raghavender G.R., Joint Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, on IPR and Emerging Technologies whereby an overview on the relevance of IPR in such a digital & technological progressive time of innovative-end minds was given. Thereafter, some important National Strategies opted by the Government on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and NFTs, etc. were elucidated. Mr. Raghavender also elaborated on the process, algorithms and software related to emerging AI- based technology comes within the ambit of protection under IPR or not.
