PARA-LEGAL VOLUNTEERS TRAINING
The VIPS Legal Aid Clinic in association with Delhi State Legal Services Authority conducted a 3 day Para Legal Volunteers training Program from 16th-18th November 2022, VIPS-TC, New Delhi.
The program involved 13 Training Sessions, each of which was taken by eminent members of the DSLSA. The Inaugural Session on the topic “Introduction to Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 and its activities, was taken by Sh. Bharat Parashar, Member Secretary, DSLSA. The next session was delivered by Sh. Sushant Changotra, Special Secretary, DSLSA on the topic “Roles and responsibilities of the PLVs” and “Laws on children with special emphasis on cyber crime”. Sh. Sumeet Anand, Additional Secretary, DSLSA conducted a session on “Basic structure of the Constitution with special emphasis on Fundamental Rights and Duties of Citizens”. Session 4 was helmed by Shri. Manish Jain, Secretary, North-West DLSA conducted a session on an overview of criminal justice system. The last session on Day-1 of the PLV Induction Program was taken by Mr. Bilal Ahmed, Program Director, SPYM who addressed the students on the topic of ‘Drug Abuse amongst children – Indications and

Rehabilitation of CNCP’. On Day Two, the PLV training was taken by Ms. Harshita Mishra, Secretary (Litigation), DSLSA, on the topic ‘Laws Relating to Women’. The second session for the day was taken by Mr. Lalit Tomar, Secretary, Central-II, Rouse Avenue Courts on the topic ‘Mental Health Act, 2017’. The third session for day two was taken by Mr. K. B. Rai, Former Advisor Administrative Reforms, 2005, on the topic ‘Right to Information, 2005’. The fourth session for the day was delivered by Mr. Vikas Chandwani, Soft Skill Trainer on the topic ‘Effective Communication and Interpersonal Skills’. On Day 3 of the program, the sessions began with the topic “Overview of Matrimonial Laws” taken by Ms. Saema Jain, Secretary, East DLSA. The next session was taken by Sh.Himanshu Sehloth, Secretary, North DLSA, on an Overview of the Labour Laws. The second last session of the program was taken up by Ms. Helly Fur Kaur, Secretary, New Delhi DLSA where she deliberated on the special laws in force to protect the Senior citizens and the transgenders.
