Workshop on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
Vivekananda Law School organized a Workshop by the International Committee of the Red Cross on International Humanitarian Law on 21 st February, 2018. It was organized by the Asst. Prof. Bhavya Gupta, subject teacher for International Humanitarian Law as part of the course for the law students who have elected IHL in the eighth semester. It was organised under the able guidance of the Dean, VSLLS Prof.(Dr.) Rashmi Salpekar. Dr. Anuradha Saibaba and Ms. Jhinuk Mukhopadhyay delivered the session. Dr, Anuradha Saibaba represented ICRC as the Head of IHL Department in India and Ms. Jhinuk as the Communication Officer for Research & Thematic OrientationCommunications in the Research and Public Affairs Department of ICRC in its New Delhi based office. Ms. Jhinuk showcased an interesting documentary about the story of ICRC and discussed the role and mandate of ICRC with the students while Dr. Anuradha Saibaba discussed the legal status of ICRC in protection and development of IHL, principles of IHL and the contemporary challenges. One of the key achievements of the Workshop was the donation of IHL Books by ICRC to the Library of Vivekananda Law School. Additionally, ICRC distributed resource materials to all the students during the workshop.
