
Tushita Gaur
Dr. Tushita Sharma started her academic career with VIPS in 2008. She is a perceptive Law Teacher and her main passion is classroom teaching. Her areas of interest include Criminal Law, Gender and Law, Jurisprudence, Human Rights, Prison System, Criminology, etc. Dr. Tushita has to her credit a published book (2015), titled A Jurisprudential Analysis of Crime and Punishment in India from the Scholar’s Press, Germany as well as Research Papers in refereed journals of National repute. Dr. Tushita regularly presents papers in various Seminars on a wide range of subjects, particularly, Criminal Law; Criminal Justice System; Sentencing; Women’s Rights; and Law and Literature.
At VSLLS, Dr. Tushita heads the Centre for Criminal Justice Administration, which undertakes research and publications in the field of Criminal Law, and conducts activities and events based on criminal and procedural laws- such as Debate, Moot, Seminar, workshop, Guest lecture, conference, etc. She also heads the VSLLS Alumni Engagement Committee, herself being a proud Alumna of VIPS from the batch of 2001-06.
She is a member of various Committees such as the VSLLS Competitive Examination Guidance Centre where she is focussed at providing training to Judiciary aspirant students of the Law School; the Legal Aid Clinic; the Academic Program Committee; the Committee for Disciplinary issues and Ragging to name a few.
Academically, Dr. Tushita has completed her Ph.D from the illustrious Jamia Millia Islamia, Faculty of Law, under the able guidance of Prof. Dr. Manjula Batra. She also qualified the JRF-cum-Net Examination conducted by the University Grants Commission. Prior to that, she undertook her Master of Laws form the Indian Law Institute. Apart from Legal Academia, Dr. Sharma is a vociferous reader and an astute story teller who engages herself in re-telling stories to the younger generation, from the Mahābhārata and the Rāmāyaṇa as a personal hobby.
