Value Added Course on Climate Change Mitigation Under International Law
Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies, VIPS-TC, organized a Value Added Course on Climate Change Mitigation under International Law, from 22nd August- 1st September, 2022. The course witnessed the participation of law studentsacross the semesters. Ten live sessions were conducted during the course and for the same, experts having different professional and academic backgrounds were invited. Furthermore, to emphasize upon the third world perspectives of environmental degradation an environmental professional from Bangladesh, Ms. Khadiza Tul Kobra Nahin, Individual Consultant, International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) was also invited.During her session, she explained the adaptive strategies which can be used for climate change induced disasters. The lecture also focused on how attention to inter-sectionalism can further help in climate change adaptation. The purpose was to give an interdisciplinary approach to the discussion on climate change and related issues. Some of the other important topics discussed during the sessions were were : International Legal Framework on Climate Change (UNFCCC, Kyoto Protocol, Paris Agreement), National and International Framework for Clean Energy, Intersectional Approach to Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Riverine Communities of Bangladesh and Climate Change Adaptation Strategies, Climate Change Refugees etc. The course concluded with a lecture on contemporary issuesconnected to climate change, and was culminated by the insightful words of Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Salpekar. Ma’am drew the attention of the participants towards changing geo- political dimensions of environmental obligations of the international community and encouraged the students to critically think about the politics of climate change.



VALUE ADDED COURSE ON ADR METHODS AND PRACTICAL TRAINING
The Centre for ADR organized Value-Added Course on ADR Methods and Practical Training from 22nd to 26th August 2022. The course was for third semester students that acquainted them about legal system of India, the philosophy of ADR mechanism along with importance and uses of the ADR. They were guided about the basics of client counseling, negotiation, and mediation and participated in role-plays to get hands-on experience. The students were curious to know who, how, and when can the person approach ADR mechanism. The course helped them understand the legal ambit of ADR. They were made aware of the intricacies of the draft of ADR modes. The Value-Added Course concluded with Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Salpekar, Dean, VSLLS addressed the young minds and filled them with enthusiasm. She touched upon the importance of ADR and made the students realize how it is an upcoming legal sphere.


VALUE ADDED COURSE ON LEGAL DRAFTING AND CLIENT COUNSELLING
The Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies (VSLLS), VIPS, organised a value-added course on Legal Drafting and Client Counselling for the students of VSLLS. The course was formulated and conducted under the aegis and valuable guidance of Prof. T. V. Subba Rao, Professor-Emeritus, VSLLS, VIPS; Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao, Chairperson, VSES & VSLLS, VIPS and Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Salpekar, Dean, VSLLS, VIPS.



The course was conducted during the months of May, 2021 to July, 2021. Students of VSLLS across all semesters participated in this course. The duration of the course was 30 hours spread over 12 sessions each headed by eminent speakers and advocates.
The course started with civil litigation drafting and drafting of legal instruments which were taken up by Advocate Amandeep Kaur and Advocate N. Swaminathan. Hereinafter, the topics with respect to criminal litigation drafting and related topics such as complaint under section 138, Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, drafting of FIR and other criminal proceedings were discussed by Advocate Manjeet Arya, Advocate Rajesh Gupta and Advocate Dhruva Bhagat respectively. Thereafter, suit for recovery of money, application of temporary injunction and drafting of civil suits was discussed by Advocate Madhumita Bhattacharya and Ms. Monika Srivastava (Assistant Professor, VIPS). Drafting of writs was taken up by Mr. Chandy Oomen. Advocate Harsh Pathak focused on the intricacies of legal drafting and gave information about the things that should be kept in mind while drafting any kind of legal document. The sessions about client counselling and various allied skills were taken up by Singhania and Partners LLP. The course ended with the valedictory session on 29.09.2021. It was presided over by Shri Suneet Vats, Vice Chairman, VIPS, Prof. T. V. Subba Rao, Professor-Emeritus, VSLLS, VIPS; Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao, Chairperson, VSES & VSLLS, VIPS and Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Salpekar, Dean, VSLLS, VIPS. The valedictory address was delivered by the guest of honour, Sh. Ved Prakash Sharma, Co-chairman of Bar Council of India.
VSLLS VALUE ADDED COURSE ON MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT LAW
The Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies (VSLLS), VIPS, organised a value-added course on Media and Entertainment Law for the students of VSLLS. The course was formulated and conducted under the aegis and valuable guidance of Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao, Chairperson, VSES & VSLLS VIPS, Prof. T. V. Subba Rao, Professor-Emeritus, VSLLS, VIPS and Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Salpekar, Dean, VSLLS, VIPS.




The course was spread over two months and fifteen sessions were conducted throughout the course. Students from semesters participated in this course. The course saw various acclaimed keynote speakers who talked on varying topics and issues pertaining to the field of media and entertainment industry and their inter-connection to the field of law. The course started with the inaugural session on 06.09.2021 wherein the inaugural address was delivered by Sh. T. K. Ganju, Senior Advocate, High Court of Delhi. Prof. T. V. Subba Rao and Dr. P. Puneeth (Associate Professor of Law at JNU), focussed on the constitutional aspect of freedom of media in the light of the freedom of speech and expression and the implicit right to dissent enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The provisions of the IT Act in relation to media were also discussed by few of the speakers- Dr. A. Nagarathna, Mr. Shamik Narain and Advocate Mr. Navin Kumar Jaggi. Mr. Arvind Gopal, Senior Legal Counsel at Bharti Airtel and Mr. Dominic D’souza, Legal Head at Balaji Group and Mr. Goviind Vijay, Deputy General Counsel at HT Media Ltd. belonging to the corporate side of media discussed more about the technical aspect of the same. Prof. Sidharth Mishra (Chairperson, VSLLS, VIPS) and Ms. Nivedita Khandekar discussed the practical aspect of the inter-relation between media and law. The course ended with the valedictory session on 07.10.2021 for which the valedictory address was delivered by the guest of honour, Mr, Manish Awasthi, Editorial Director at News India.

ENVIRONMENTAL GOVERNANCE
Training and Skill Development in Legal Drafting & Office Management
The inaugural lecture titled “Civil Litigation Pleadings and Documentation” in the series of special lectures on “Training and skill development in Legal Drafting and Office Management” was delivered by Dr Arun Mohan, Senior Advocate on Saturday, 8th September 2018 at VSLLS . The audience comprised of students pursuing LLB and LLM students of VSLLS as well as other institutes. The lecture focused on crucial skills in basic rules in drafting of pleadings as well as drafting of legal Notices, Plaint, Written statement, Rejoinder, Evidence by way of affidavit and Caveats. Dr. Arun Mohan shared his valuable insights into the legal profession and shared the importance of forming right habits for drafting which prove to be the most valuable asset for any professional in the legal domain.



A series of seven special lectures – “Training and Skill Development in Legal Drafting and Office Management” were held from 8th September 2018 to 27th October 2018. A total of 183 students had registered for the series.
The lectures were designed with the following primary objectives
- To provide practical training in drafting and management of the cases toyoung professionals and law students
- To provide in-house training to them and equip them with the knowledge of fundamental principles relating to drafting, filing and office management of case files.
- To make them proficient in the basic rules of drafting including commercial agreements, power of attorneys, notices, Wills, writs, statutes, affidavits and other instruments in vogue in commercial and industrial matters
- Acquaint them with the procedures relating to filing of these documents, their registration, wherever applicable, and processes related to the filing of these documents before various courts, tribunals and other quasi judicial and administrative bodies.
- To hold mock exercise in the matter of drafting of these instruments and statutes.
